I found a super cost performance “fan with swing function”!

Portable fans have become a highly competitive genre with new products appearing every year. Among them, the Lumenor fan was the driving force behind this boom, but new products with high cost performance are appearing one after another. This season, Kenai's desk fan is a hot topic. This time, let's introduce the power of this product by function while comparing it with the Lumenor fan.

I found a portable electric fan with good cost performance!

A small personal fan that has recently come to be seen. Gone are the days when we were close to toys. In particular, the improvement in performance since it became a USB charging type is something to behold.

Meanwhile, I found a cheap one on Amazon. It is a brand called "KEYNICE". This time, we will report on its usability while comparing it with the "Lumenor" fan, which is a senior in this category.

I compared it with a Lumenor fan.

The popular Lumenor fan (left photo), which became a hot topic last year, is like a compact cordless home fan. The refreshing simple design and high basic performance as a fan are the secrets of its popularity.

On the other hand, Keenice's desk fan (right photo) will be released as a new product in 2019 . As well as the sense of size, it is also cordless, so there seems to be no difference in usability.

Check how the buttons work

Most recent small fans use brushless DC (direct current) motors that eliminate mechanically consumable electrical contact parts. The same is true for the two units compared this time, and they are characterized by their compact design and smooth and quiet operation.

Lumenor's switch indicator is a simple 4-stage air volume switching lamp type. To check the remaining battery power, press the power button for 2 seconds during operation, and the LED indicator lamp will flash once, and then the number of lights will tell you.

On the other hand, Keenice's switch indicator lamp is in the order of charging from the bottom and switching the air volume in 3 steps. The top is the "rhythm wind mode" that automatically adjusts the strength and reproduces a comfortable natural wind .

I measured the airflow

Lumenor fan air volume measurement results (4 levels of air volume adjustment)

Air volume 1: Wind speed 3.9m

Air volume 2: Wind speed 4.4m

Air volume 3: wind speed 5.5m

Air volume 4: Wind speed 6.8m

This is my personal opinion, but if you use it at a distance of less than 1m, which is susceptible to wind, you can spend up to 2 winds without worrying about the sound . At air volume 3 , the sound was a little annoying, and at air volume 4 , the sound was quite annoying.

Keenice fan air volume measurement results (3 levels of air volume adjustment)

Air volume 1: Wind speed 3.5m

Air volume 2: Wind speed 4.4m

Air volume 3: Wind speed 5.0m

Overall quiet impression. Air volume 3 had little vibration and made me feel a strong wind. In addition, the rhythm wind mode reproduces a natural wind by changing the air volume between strong, weak, and stopped so that it is ideal for sleeping and napping.

The impression that the strongest air volume is added to the three-stage air volume adjustment key is Lumener. I was surprised that both of them generated a wide and plump wind that exceeded the size of the fan.

I compared the continuous use time

The Lumenor fan lasts about 3 hours and 37 minutes at maximum air volume . It was possible to use it continuously for about 21 hours and 15 minutes with the minimum air flow (indoor temperature 26 degrees at the time of the test).

The charging lamp also serves as a 4-stage air volume indicator lamp (displays air volume when using an uncharged fan), and 4 lamps light up when fully charged.

Compared to Keenice, the charging current consumption was a little higher at 0.55A, but on the contrary, the time to full charge was short at about 5 hours and 24 minutes .

Keenice can be used continuously for about 5 hours and 35 minutes at maximum air volume (indoor temperature 26 degrees at the time of testing). At the minimum air volume, I was surprised that it worked for about 29 hours and 15 minutes . If the battery lasts for such a long time, it will be more than enough for camping.

The charging lamp at the bottom of the switch indicator lamp blinks during charging. Lights up when fully charged. The charge consumption current was 0.24A, and it took about 8 hours and 51 minutes from an empty battery state to a full charge .

Summary,

・ Lumenor fan = high charging current → short charging time → relatively short operating time (there is a strongest mode)
・Kenice fan = low charging current → long charging time → long operating time

However, it is a level that can not be said to have a decisive difference.

The Kenaisu fan has a swing function!

The biggest advantage of Keenice is that it has a swing function that is not found in Lumeners. Swings 65 degrees left and right to send air over a wide range, quiet and smooth movement without rattling.

The swing function can be switched not only by pushing and pulling the knob on the motor part, but also by rotating it. I like the design that matches the compact fan without applying excessive force to the light body.

The vertical swing angle is 5 degrees wider than the lumen

Both up and down swings are manually operated. It is announced that the Lumenor can be adjusted 45 degrees, and the Kenais fan can be adjusted 35 degrees above the horizontal and 5 degrees below. Fans don't need more range of motion, so it can be said that it is a sufficient function.

Quenice is slightly lighter

Both Keenice and Lumenor are compact size with a height of 26 cm. Even with a small body, the powerful motor delivers the wind to a long distance.

Kenaisu actually measured 446g, which is less than the spec of about 450g.

On the other hand, the Lumenor weighs about 460g, just like the specs. Either way, both are lightweight, compact, and easy to carry.

Convenience at camping is also hard to choose

Although not marked as waterproof, the two fans are also suitable for outdoor air circulator functions. Because it is a lightweight and compact design that is quiet and has little vibration, it can be used by hanging it inside the tent.

If you turn the front guard of the fan slightly counterclockwise (Kenice has a lock screw), the front guard can be easily removed, so even if the blades get dirty, you can easily wipe them off.

There is almost no difference in terms of performance... but?

Since the latecomer Keenais has achieved cost reduction despite its multi-functionality, it is unavoidable that the price of the original Lumener is high.

What did you like about using it?

Portable fans are highly competitive, with new products appearing every year. If you understand the presence or absence of functions, both of them have a high degree of perfection, and my honest impression is that there are no particular weak points . With this, even mail-order sales where you cannot see the actual product will be able to purchase with confidence.

Latecomer Keenice comes with a worry-free guarantee against initial defects within one year from the date of purchase and failures, damage, and other defects that occur within the normal range of use.

Both were excellent products.

The two portable electric fans that we compared and introduced this time are probably finished with performance that does not disappoint everyone's expectations.

If you are looking for multi-functions such as swinging and rhythm, and a low price, Keenice. If you are looking for the performance of a simple fan with 4 levels of air volume adjustment and powerful air volume, then Lumener is the place to go. Both bring a plump wind and will be to show the result more than expected.
